If the Phyn App is stuck at "Pairing your Phyn device" during device setup, this is an indication that the Wi-Fi router is located too far away from the Phyn Plus device. Setup of the Phyn Plus device using the Phyn App is a 2-step process.
  1. The first step of the process is to pair the Phyn App on your phone to the Phyn Plus device. For this step to be successful, your phone should be close to where the Phyn Plus device is installed
  2. the second step of the process is to pair the Phyn Plus device to the home Wi-Fi network. For this step to be successful the Wi-Fi router should be located within reach of the Wi-Fi antenna of the Phyn Plus device.
If the Phyn App is stuck at "Pairing your Phyn device" during device setup, this is an indication that the Wi-Fi router is located too far away from the Phyn Plus device. You will need one or more of the following steps to resolve:
  • Relocate the wireless router closer to the location where the Phyn Plus device is located.
  • Purchase an external Wi-Fi antenna (Phyn Plus 1st Generation only) to boost the Wi-Fi signal of the Phyn Plus device or
  • Purchase a Wi-Fi Range extender to extend the range of the Wi-Fi network to the location where the Phyn Plus device is installed. Wi-Fi Range extender or repeater will boost the signal of the Home Wi-Fi network to allow the Phyn Plus device to connect and stay connected.
Note: The Wireless router should be located within range of the Phyn Plus device to ensure that the Phyn Plus remains connected through Wi-Fi without connection drops. If you subscribe to cable Internet, you may be able to move the cable router to another room that has a cable outlet. In very large homes where the Phyn Plus is installed in a basement and the Wi-Fi router is installed on the top floor, it may be necessary to purchase one or more Wi-Fi Range Extenders. Range extenders can be used to “daisy-chain” a viable Wi-Fi signal from the router to the location of the Phyn Plus device. Wi-Fi Range Extenders or Wi-Fi Repeaters are available from many hardware manufacturers including Belkin. A Wi-Fi Range extender contains two wireless routers, similar to the wireless router you already have in your home or office. One of these wireless routers picks up your existing home Wi-Fi network. It then transfers the signal to the other wireless router, which transmits the boosted signal.
