How do I operate the Shutoff valve on the Phyn Plus?

The shutoff valve on the Phyn Plus device can be operated using several methods.  The shutoff valve can even be operated manually in the event of a power outage.

Shutoff valve operation (on the Phyn App)

  • Launch the Phyn app on your phone
  • Tap the Menu icon in the upper left-hand corner
  • At the bottom of the screen is a toggle switch that will normally display “Water On”
  • Tap the toggle switch
  • The shutoff valve will engage to stop water flow
  • The toggle switch will display “Water Off”
  • The LED display on the Phyn Plus will display a “blocked” display showing water flowing on one side and a red line showing that the water is blocked from the home water system
  • Tap the toggle switch again
  • The shutoff valve will disengage and open to permit water flow
  • The toggle switch will display “Water On”
  • The LED display on the Phyn Plus will show normal water flow pattern

Shutoff valve operation (on the Phyn Plus 1st or 2nd Gen. device, with electrical power)

  • Primary method:  Tap and hold the blue button 3 seconds.
  • The shutoff valve will engage to stop water flow
  • The LED display will display a “blocked” display showing water flowing on one side and a red line showing that the water is blocked from the home water system
  • Primary method:  Tap and hold the blue button 3 seconds.
  • The shutoff valve will disengage and open to permit water flow
  • The LED display will show normal water flow

Phyn Plus 1st Gen. – Shutoff valve operation (on the Phyn Plus 1st. Gen. device, without electrical power)**

**Note:  This method of shutoff valve operation should only be employed when the normal methods of Shutoff valve operation (tapping and holding the blue button or through the Phyn app are not possible, i.e. during a power outage or Internet outage.

  • Locate and remove the shutoff tool from the Phyn Plus device.  It is preferable to use any flat-head screwdriver instead of the shutoff tool.
  • The shutoff tool works like a screwdriver to manually turn on or off the shutoff valve
  • Open the rubber grey panel on the bottom of the Phyn Plus device
  • Locate the slot showing a recessed silver shutoff screw on the lower-left-hand corner next to the gold antenna port
  • Carefully insert the end of the shutoff tool into the slot and engage the end of the tool with the silver shutoff screw
  • Turn counter-clockwise to turn on water to the home
  • Turn clockwise to turn off water to the home

Phyn Plus 2nd. Gen. – Shutoff valve operation (on the Phyn Plus 2nd. Gen. device, without electrical power)**

**Note:  This method of shutoff valve operation should only be employed when the normal methods of Shutoff valve operation (tapping and holding the blue button or through the Phyn app are not possible, i.e. during a power outage or Internet outage.

  • Locate any flat-head screwdriver.
  • Open the rubber grey panel on the bottom of the Phyn Plus 2nd. Gen. device
  • You will see a recessed silver shutoff screw  beneath the rubber grey panel next to the USB Power port.
  • Carefully insert the end of the screwdriver into the slot and engage the end of the screwdriver with the silver shutoff screw
  • Turn counter-clockwise to turn on water to the home
  • Turn clockwise to turn off water to the home
