What types of Wi-Fi security protocols does the Phyn Plus device support?

The Phyn Plus works best with WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access II) security protocol.  WPA2 has been required on all Wi-Fi CERTIFIED products since 2006.  The Phyn Plus supports connections to routers configured to use these Wi-Fi security protocols:

  • WEP – Not recommended – Networks using WEP can be easily hacked – See below
  • WPA2 Personal (aka WPA2-PSK, PSK2, WPA2-PSK (AES only – not TKIP), WPA2-PSK/AES)
  • WPA/WPA2 Personal (aka WPA/WPA2 Mixed mode, WPA/WPA2 PSK, WPA/WPA2 (TKIP/AES), WPAWPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES), PSK2-Mixed)

Note:  The Wi-Fi Security Alliance highly recommends that WEP or WPA security protocol users update to either WPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA2 Personal (Mixed mode).
