Phyn devices will work with any Wi-Fi router with a dedicated 2.4GHz network SSID and that can be configured to use either of these security profiles:
  • WEP - Works, but not recommended - Networks using WEP can be easily hacked - See below
  • WPA2 Personal (aka WPA2-PSK, PSK2, WPA2-PSK (AES only - not TKIP), WPA2-PSK/AES)
  • WPA/WPA2 Personal (aka WPA/WPA2 Mixed mode, WPA/WPA2 PSK, WPA/WPA2 (TKIP/AES), PSK2-Mixed)
If the Wi-Fi router is configured as "Open" (no security) or to use another security profile such as WPA, the Phyn device will not work. Note: The Wi-Fi Security Alliance highly recommends that WEP or WPA security protocol users update to either WPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA2 Personal (Mixed mode). See here for information on Mesh network compatibility See https://www.wi-fi.org/discover-wi-fi/security for more information on Wi-Fi security profiles.
